A protest at Sydney's Villawood Detention Centre is expected to last one more night but there will be no more violence, detainees say.
However, those detainees involved in the tense stand-off with police may have already lost their asylum claims, federal Immigration Minister Chris Bowen says.
The Villawood centre southwest of the city erupted in a riot involving up to 100 detainees on Wednesday night, leaving nine buildings gutted by fire.
By Thursday afternoon six protesters were left on the roof of one building, with one man threatening suicide before being hauled from the edge of a roof by the remaining asylum seekers.
One protester, known as Majid, told AAP via telephone no more violence was planned.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard says Japanese troops could be allowed to train in Australian defence units under a new vision for greater military co-operation by both countries.
The Prime Minister outlined her vision in The Weekend Australian newspaper in an interview in Tokyo on Friday, saying she's open to exploring the idea of Japan's soldiers gaining direct experience from their more combat-ready Australian peers, 66 years after World War Two.
The Australian reported last year that Japan's Defence Minister Toshimi Kitizawa is keen for Japanese troops to draw on the combat experience that Diggers have gained in East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Tens of thousands of protesters massed in a southern Egyptian city on Friday and cut off a major railway to demand the exit of a Christian governor as the government sought to resolve the crisis, police officials said.
The protests began last Friday after Emad Mikhail, a former Cairo police commander, was appointed governor of Qena, the second Coptic Christian governor in a row.
The protesters' motivations appear to vary but the presence of hardline Islamists has raised sectarian tensions in the province, which has a large Christian population and a history of religious strife.
